Letters to the Women that Raise Me

"I am a multimedia artist. I am based in New York City, my work focuses mainly on identity and relationships of Black women. I currently am studying at Gallatin NYU. My concentration is Afro-Caribbean Women of Post-Colonialism through Fashion and Film. I am interested in exploring the way in which Black Caribbean women have resisted through fashion and how it is a means of survival.  Recently. I have been forced to confront trauma through my work especially with the current political state that the world faces i.e U.S.A., Brazil, and the Philippines. I feel that it is my job as an artist to speak about my personal conflicts with trauma and how in order for me to survive within this world I have to make work that alludes to trauma and sisterhood."
